Patricia is thrilled and honored to have been awarded third place in the pastel category of the 2009 Portrait Society of America’s Member’s Showcase competition for her portrait in pastel, The Ritter Family.
Entries were judged in category according to medium based on “drawing skills; evidence of the artist’s understanding of anatomy; and whether color, where applicable, and form were used appropriately in achieving the mood, capturing the overall subject and rendering the form as the artist’s intended to interpret them.”
“The Portrait Society’s competitions are not just about showcasing a Classical view, but instead intend to showcase a realistic artistic perspective with foundations based in tradition and the strength to find new pathways of interpretation.”
The purpose of the Portrait Society of America is to foster and enhance an understanding of the practice, techniques and applications of traditional fine art portraiture and figurative works.
